Why Hokkaido Should Be Your Next Adventure

One-day private minibus tour to Takachiho from Fukuoka Review

Picture this: soaking in a steaming outdoor onsen while snowflakes dance around you, wandering through endless fields of lavender stretching to the horizon, or savoring the freshest sushi you’ve ever tasted. That’s just a typical day in Hokkaido! What makes this island special isn’t just its breathtaking landscapes—it’s the perfect blend of natural wonders, cultural experiences, and world-class cuisine that you won’t find anywhere else in Japan.

According to the Hokkaido Tourism Organization, visitor numbers have grown by around 40% since 2019, yet the island still feels refreshingly less crowded than major tourist hubs like Tokyo and Kyoto. This means you can enjoy a more authentic Japanese experience without being overwhelmed by crowds.

I’ve heard winter is absolutely magical in Hokkaido – those amazing snow festivals and hot springs! But I’m actually thinking about visiting in July to catch the lavender fields in Furano. Anyone been during peak lavender season? Would love to know the best spots to stay that aren’t crazy expensive, and if it’s worth renting a car vs. trying to get around by train/bus. Also super curious about the food scene – especially interested in trying that famous Hokkaido ramen and fresh seafood. Those giant snow crabs look incredible in all the photos I’ve seen! Been saving up specifically to splurge on some epic meals while I’m there.
