But honestly, my personal favorite time is between November and January, when the weather is particularly mild and the surrounding landscapes burst with color.

How to Get There

Getting to Jinka Resort – Arbaminch is part of the adventure! You can reach the property by flying into Arba Minch Airport, which receives regular domestic flights from Addis Ababa. From there, it’s about a scenic drive through some of Ethiopia’s most spectacular landscapes. If you’re driving from Addis Ababa, expect a journey of approximately 7-8 hours along well-maintained highways. The resort’s location makes it an excellent base for exploring the Omo Valley and other nearby attractions.

Tips for Visiting

Y’know what? I learned a few things during my stays here that might help you out. Book your room at least a few months in advance, especially during peak season (October-January) when the resort fills up quickly. Request a room on the upper floors – they tend to offer better views and catch lovely morning breezes.

Make sure to try the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony at least once during your stay – it’s an experience you won’t forget! The kitchen staff are super accommodating with dietary requirements, but it’s best to mention any restrictions when booking.

Pack light layers of clothing as temperatures can vary throughout the day. Don’t forget to bring a good camera – the sunsets here are absolutely incredible. Oh, and definitely take advantage of the front desk staff’s local knowledge – they know all the hidden gems in the area and can arrange excellent guided tours.
