Manneken Pis, the famous ‘little peeing boy’ statue, is a quintessential Brussels experience that every visitor should check off their list. Located just a short stroll from the magnificent Grand Place, this diminutive 61cm-tall bronze fountain has been amusing locals and tourists alike since the early 17th century. While the statue itself might not be as grandiose as one might expect, its cultural significance and the stories surrounding it are larger than life. The statue is often dressed in various costumes, reflecting different occasions and adding an element of surprise to each visit. The area around Manneken Pis is always bustling with energy, filled with souvenir shops, waffle stands, and chocolate stores, creating a lively atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Brussels. Despite its small size, Manneken Pis has become a symbol of Brussels’ folksy humor and represents the city’s ability to not take itself too seriously.
