Description

Now, I’ll admit, it’s not some luxurious five-star resort. It’s got its rough edges, but that’s kind of the point—it has character, a distinctly local flavor that you won’t get anywhere else. Some visitors found parts of it a bit underwhelming, maybe because they expected the glitzy country club feel you see in fancy movies. But those who take it in for what it is—an honest sports club serving up good times—often leave thinking it was a memorable slice of their Papua New Guinean experience. Plus, it’s standing strong with more good reviews than bad, showing it mostly delivers on what it promises.

If you like your sporting venues with a community twist, where you can enjoy cricket matches, informal golf play, or just chill out watching the game on screens, Madang Country Club is your kind of place. There’s a friendly energy here that’s hard to describe until you’re sitting on the deck, sweating under the late afternoon sun, sharing a laugh with locals who are all too happy to share their insider tips on Madang. Oh, and if you’re a fan of experiencing less-touristy spots? This club quietly hits that sweet spot—authentic, unofficially off the beaten track, and utterly enjoyable.

So, yeah, don’t expect polished perfection. Think friendly, accessible, and definitely worth a visit whether you’re into sports or just looking for a place to unwind with a drink and less of the usual tourist buzz. This is the kind of spot that grows on you in the best way possible.
