I gotta tell you about Quayside Park – it’s one of those places that completely exceeded my expectations when I first visited! The waterfront location creates this perfect blend of recreational space and natural beauty. The boardwalk stretches along the shoreline, offering these incredible views that’ll make your Instagram followers jealous (trust me, I’ve posted plenty from here). What really struck me was how the park manages to balance being both peaceful and full of life at the same time.

From my experience hanging out here regularly, early mornings and late afternoons tend to be the sweet spots for visiting Quayside Park. The sunrise over the water is absolutely magical – I’ve captured some of my best photos during these golden hours. Weekdays are typically less crowded than weekends, though the park rarely feels overwhelming even during peak times. Summer evenings are particularly special, with the cool breeze off the water making it comfortable even on warmer days. If you’re bringing kids to the playground, mid-morning on weekdays is ideal since most local children are in school.

How to Get There

The park is easily accessible by both public and private transportation. If you’re driving, you’ll find ample parking spaces, including designated wheelchair-accessible spots near the main entrance. Public transit stops are conveniently located nearby, and the walking paths leading to the park are well-marked. Ya know what’s cool? There are actually multiple entry points, so you can choose the one that’s most convenient based on where you’re coming from.

Tips for Visiting

Okay, here’s the inside scoop from someone who’s spent countless hours here: Bring a water bottle! The fountains are great, but it’s always better to have your own. If you’re planning a picnic (which I totally recommend), try to snag one of the tables near the water – they’re usually the first to go. Early birds definitely get the best spots!

Pack some sunscreen cause there are some areas without much shade. Oh, and don’t forget your camera – there are these amazing photo opportunities, especially when the light hits the water just right. During summer weekends, I usually arrive before 10 AM to get prime parking and picnic spots.

For pet owners (I bring my golden retriever here all the time), remember to bring waste bags even though the park usually has some available. The dog park area can get pretty busy in the late afternoon when people come after work.

And here’s a pro tip that most visitors don’t know about – there’s this perfect little spot on the eastern end of the boardwalk that’s amazing for watching boats go by. I’ve spent many peaceful moments there just taking in the scene. Bring a light jacket even on warm days – the breeze off the water can be surprisingly cool!

For families with kids, the playground is fantastic, but I’d suggest bringing some sand toys if your little ones love the sandy areas. Also, the picnic tables near the playground are perfect for keeping an eye on the kids while having lunch.

Winter visitors, don’t write this place off! The park is gorgeous year-round, and the winter months offer some spectacular views with way fewer crowds. Just bundle up and maybe bring a thermos of hot chocolate – that’s become my favorite winter tradition here.
