I was absolutely blown away by the optical illusion of those floating anchors when I visited the Colin Grazier Memorial last summer! Has anyone else found themselves walking around it multiple times trying to figure out how they achieved that effect? The way the anchors seem to defy gravity is honestly mesmerizing. I went around sunset and the shadows through the chain links created this haunting atmosphere that really drove home the sacrifice these sailors made.

What struck me was learning how these three men helped shorten WWII by potentially a full year – that’s thousands of lives saved! I’m curious if any locals know whether they still hold commemorative events in October? Also, did anyone check out other historical sites in Tamworth that pair well with this visit? I had limited time that day and kinda wish I’d planned better to explore more of the town’s wartime connections. The cafes nearby were lovely though – perfect for sitting and contemplating such an incredible story of bravery.
